Was that the one where it was in the high speed lane on the oncoming side? That dashcam video was pretty damning in that case. Dude was plowing at way too high a speed. I think a couple vehicles ended up going off the road because of it.

Not suggesting you would, but you can end up with an at-fault through no fault of your own. Been there, done that. Unless you have video evidence or an army of witnesses, cops will assign blame according to however they feel was most likely the cause, regardless of what actually happened.

For example, if you were in reverse at the time of a collision, you're almost certainly at fault regardless of what the other motorist was doing. Which is insane.

Insurance is who fights for you (in theory) in cases like this. Without insurance, you're on your own. You chose to take that risk. You'll have to argue this in the courts now, there's no other way if the city doesn't want to pay out. I don't blame them either, they know you don't have insurance, so they assume they can save money by not paying out the full amount. More often than not, they probably get away with it since court takes both time and money. That's part of the reason why it's important to carry insurance.

Then you must be financially capable of covering the loss, according to state law. What was your plan if you were in an accident and were legitimately at fault? You wouldn't compensate the other party?

While rents have gone up, space in new newly built apartments has seemingly gone down. If you want to keep anything beyond a spare set of clothes, I can see a need for a storage unit.

If this was a warmer climate, I'd say it was being used as housing, as in Snow Crash.

Yea, the stuff that's on the non-Real ID. Fascinating.

They keep pushing back the compliance date, I doubt they'll ever actually enforce it.

I'm on some list where I get the pat-down treatment every freaking time.

It'd make more sense to tap into domestic oil resources. You can't switch a significant chunk of the motor vehicles on the road over to EV in a short period of time. We're constrained by the number of high voltage batteries that can be produced given the scarce metals required. Vehicle parts in general are hard to source, even for traditional gas powered models.

But even if we could replace the vehicle fleets with EVs, we don't have the electricity we'd need. We're stuck using a lot of natural gas. Green energy won't get us there. If it could, Germany wouldn't be switching back to coal. We need nuclear, and no one on the left is going to support that. Those are the same jackasses that did everything they could to stop electric companies from building nuclear plants, and the reason why Seabrook NPP is half of what it should have been and why NH electric rates are out of control.

The logistics of it don't make much sense. You can't just go and pump some heating oil, it has to be delivered. So they'd siphon their own tank? Or add another tank? You could use plastic jugs and fill them at the gas station with diesel, but that'd be a fairly grueling exercise for the amount you'd need to heat a home, and it'd likely be more expensive that way since you'd be paying tax on it.

Could be the distributors.. but why would they want to over order when prices are high? It's only a win if they have a lot of excess oil and no one is able to get more. But that'd be begging for the state to go after them for price gouging during an emergency/disaster situation. Worst case, prices drop and they can't sell the excess for anywhere near what they paid.

Seems dumb either way.
