I liken JC to Arlington, VA in many ways (satellite to dominant national city, transit links into town, proximity to national/int’l airport). Car need will be lifestyle dependent. Useful mostly for errand running on weekends, away visits, and a convenience late at night and during inclement weather. Your biggest hassle will be parking so find a place that comes with it.

Great pic. Left bank of the Hudson never gets enough respect due to NYC hogging the limelight.

Recommend taking all 4 sights in from the southern tip of LSP. It’s this almost Hong Kong like contiguous wall of tall — JC, midtown, downtown (Manhattan), Brooklyn.

Savings show up more clearly if you’re owning property in JC. Property tax is higher this side of the river but you save a bundle on city wage taxes. All else being equal you can net a sizable chunk here. Also cost of everything else — food, shopping, parking, fuel, etc will be lower than Manhattan. Cant comment on how Brooklyn contrasts with JC other than income tax savings.
